Session 4 - Basic Adjustments Part 2 - Basic adjustments of primitive ERA
pasc4new-b and pasc4new-c (c is only the last 8 minutes of full lecture) 

Will use ERA as example of showing all the basics

Outgoing, doer, transactor, needs emotional support from environment,
   do to have substance for thinking, procedurally organized,
   procedural, learns by imitation, able to focus- pursue same activity 
   without getting bore, not a big picture person,
   socially attractive (learned appropriate social behavior)

ERA is not a "Real" person but a framework - a model

E can go Eu Ec Ru or Rc Au or Ac 8 possibilities

Short notation e=Eu e*=Ic

Molding process gets us to one of these types at the basic level -
  any Primitive can be any of the 8 at basic level.

e.g. era real person
  Eu no pressure to sit still, intellectual discipline, learns by doing
  Ru focused linear person, goes through world believing what he sees
     thinks in absolutes. Little tolerance for ambiguity.
     Ru a limiting kind of factor.
  Au keeps this person from being a pain. 
     Eu emotionally dependent - focused,literal, but a pleaser

eru*
  Not so socially attractive. Gets attention from achieving.
  Ac is someone who 
  (15:20 or so big blank space)
  Ac does bad on PC - choosing not to identify what the situation is
    -refuse to identify situation for queue.Freer to be less socially reactive.
    Do not choose to pay attention to what people want me to do.
    Ac could have pressure to achieve. Or maybe pressure to not shine and
      be the star.
  Not a pleaser like era. May make fun of social stuff.
    Ac comes to dress party in jeans, but as A nice looking jeans.
  A "slick" ERU at basic

ef*a
  So has acquired F behavior. Can tolerate some ambiguity. Can see some
    big picture. 
  Big picture not intrinsic to R, but don't make big picture judgment till
     get to bottom of list.
  Interest in variety for variety sake   
  A primitive efa but ef*a so lacks the chaotic feature of EFA. f* modifies the
    boredom - I need more information, more choices.
  Practicality to f* not there in f  

ef*u*
  Now is EFU. Instead of tuned in people pleaser. More achievement oriented.
   Unlike eru* who can step on toes and not notice, ef*u* will have a somewhat
   more humane interpersonally aware way.
  eru* can bite the hand that feeds them. Don't learn well after the fact.
    Fs tend to worry about the options beforehand.
    Ru confused after the fact.
  Like prim EFU, but not U so has not experienced rejection, EFU you can 
  condescend in sweet way and they will still see it.
  ef*u* not as sensitive as the true EFU, but more organization
  More outgoing "tough" than real EFU

  Achievement may be in doing things for other people, but maybe instead of
  social worker, maybe occupational therapist. 
  EFU takes charge often. 

Now the compensated E  

i*ra Not changed much from prim ERA except learned quiet behaviorally passive
  thoughtful behavior. Still imitative socially reactive.
  Like era but: not as outgoing (look like I, but underneath need input, 
    may be quiet but will listen),socially active.
  Price for compensation is energy needed
    Compensated behavior is italicized - can be intense
    Some of the most extroverted people are Ic

(Note Eu just say what comes into your head. Ec listens. 
 Ru will say it in unambiguous uninsightful way.
 Eu says "Why are you doing that?"
 Ec says "Why are you doing THAT?" 

i*ru*
  Achiever intellectual. But focused imitative learning - show off
    imitative learning (need to achieve). Can spend a whole lot of time
    learning about one thing.
    Might be aware when bend ear of people with specialization
      but as u* won't care.

i*f*a    
  Procedural flexibility - fits modal expectations - post WWII
    this is modal adjustment for women (ifa basic). Not too much noise,
    initiate in subtle ways.
    Well disciplined intellectually and procedurally.

i*f*u*
  reaction formation.
  Shows a lot of tension.
  Self disciplined intellectually - add some variety to procedural
    - achiever. Can be a real intellectual achiever, but with attuned to
    other people's needs.
    High NL - do well in school and college.
    NL 9 or 10 - real hard worker.
  ifu superimposed on prim ERA outgoing, focused, socially adept  

Could do this for all 8 primitives.
