PAS Seminar Session 4 - Basic Adjustments Part 5 |
pasc4new-f Break from formulations Note: This and other sessions will discuss NL 80G. This is not available in the online formula calculator and is superceded by NL2001 which is in the online calculator. Source of data is the Wechsler From formulation then want to understand the person Now: Determining the formulation Since formula depends on relation of scores to NL, so how do we get NL. Gittinger just looked at graph and it came to him Lots of debate on factor analysis but clear Wechsler is measuring more than intelligence. Intelligence is a part of personality. So NL is best estimate of what the score would be just as a cognitive thing without being altered by personality. John is tapping non-intellect aspects of personality being measured If Intelligence is part of personality we can assume there is an interaction of personality variables with intellectual performance. Personality may be enhancing performance or detracting from performance This over-simplifies because subtests may not be dealing with the same "intellect definition" NL calculations an attempt to do what Gittinger does intuitively This will use NL 80G Digits: only count maximum - don't count whether got first or second trial WAIS-R counts missed first trial which is unfortunate For Digits a table of digits forward/backward - to get weighted scores. Is this some chart I have not seen? Or the WBG or WAIS raw to weighted? Example: I 12 C 14 D 7+5 = 10 A 11 S 13 PA 8 PC 11 BD 9 OA 9 DSY 11 Will look at relationship of D and A. (NL 80G adjusts D if D and A differ by a lot) Don't use DSY in NL
